Imagine the wind at your back as you hit a monster drive. Your ball sails as if it were surfing on the breeze. The trade winds usually hit the Maui Nui golf course in the mornings and late afternoons. The course was architected with this in mind as many of the holes bring the wind into play.
The course has a very interesting layout and is very well maintained. There are lots of bunkers with medium soft sand. A sand wedge with 12 or 14 degrees of bounce is essential! Soft greens, cushy fairways, and fluffy rough bring a sort of relaxation.
This course opened in 1987. It was originally known as Silversword, then Elleair Golf Club, and most recently now as Maui Nui Golf Club.
